Funeral services will be conducted at two o’clock Saturday afternoon from the Gospel Tabernacle with Rev. C. R. Logelin of Cadott officiating, for Herbert Delbert Shelley.
Herbert Shelley, aged 82 years, passed away at his home in the city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) Wednesday afternoon. He had been ill for the past several months and was returned to his home about a week ago from St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield where he had been hospitalized for the past three months.
He had been a resident of the city for the past 27 years. Surviving him are his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Leo (Alberta) O’Dell of Cudahy.

Final rites were conducted for Hebert Delbert Shelley, aged 82 years, 11 months and 27 days at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, July 3, 1948 from the Owen Gospel Tabernacle. The rev. C. R. Logelin of Cadott officiated at the final rites. Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers at the services were his six nephews, John Newman, Tony Schuh, and Dwight, Leslie, Herbert and Leon Shelley.
Flower girls were Judy Wollum, Sylvia Stolp, Shirley McMillan, Alice Devine and Geraldine Schuh.
Herbert Delbert Shelley was born on July 3, 1865 at Brothertown, Wis. He passed away on June 30, 1948 at 2:15 p.m. at his home in this city, succumbing to a long illness. He returned home only a week prior to his death from the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital where he had been hospitalized for medical treatment for several months.
Mr. Shelley received his education at Unity, Wis. On July 30th, 1905 he was united in marriage to Ethel Parker at Bright (Clark Co), Wis. To this union one child was born, Mrs. Leo (Alberta) O’Dell, now of Cudahy, Wis.
Surviving his passing are his wife and daughter, four grandchildren, Bonnie Lou, Arlene, Herbert and Sybil O’Dell, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Four brothers and one sister have preceded him in death.
Relatives and friends from away that attended the funeral services were Mrs. Vilet Shelley, Riplinger; Mr. and Mrs. John Newman, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Shelley, Gerald McCarthy and John Korntved of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Lesley Shelley and Al Korntved, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Schuh of Colby; Sgt. Dwight Shelley, Fort Sheridan, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Downing, Cudahy; and Mr. and Mrs. Thos Tuttle, Marshfield.

Herbert Shelley was my great-great uncle. Of the persons mentioned at the end of his obit here is the following information - Violet Shelley was his sister-in-law,his brother,George Shelley's widow; all the following were children of George & Violet (Rogers) Shelley; Mr-Mrs John (Dorothy Shelley)Neumann was his niece and husband, Leon (Alma Hilderbrandt) Shelley was his nephew and wife; and Leslie (Julia)Shelley was his nephew and wife; and Dwight Shelley were his nephew and Gerald McCarthy was a great-nephew; and he was (niece, Olive (Shelley)& Emmett McCarthy's son; and Anthony (Tony)and Geraldine (Shelley)Schuh was his niece. The others mentioned must have been friends.
