Gilbertson, Mattie #2 (8 OCT 1866 - 19 JUL 1948)
Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Gilbertson, 81, were conducted from the Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday, July 12 at 2 o’clock p.m. Rev. G. E. Borreson officiated and the burial was made in the parish cemetery. The deceased was born in Norway Oct. 8, 1866 and has lived in this community over 50 years. She is survived by six sons: Gunwell of Columbus, Ohio; Engman of Fond du Lac; Melvin and Ole of Curtiss; Adolph of Sheboygan, Ill.; and Halvor of Medford; 2 daughters: Mrs. Martha Harmel, Withee; and Mrs. Archie (Kella) Ackerman of Owen. There are 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were five sons, Gunwell, Ingman, Ole, Melvin, Halvor and son-in-law Archie Ackerman of Owen. Flower girls were five granddaughters, Mrs. Victor Gosse, Mrs. Clifford Gayken, Mrs. Charlie Neitzel, Mrs. Harvey Klemetson and Miss Carol Erickson.
During the service Norman Erickson, accompanied by Dorothy Thompson, sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Rev Borreson sang a Norwegian hymn.
Among relatives and friends attending were Mr. and Mrs. Gunwell Gilbertson and Zora Coleman of Columbus, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Engman Gilbertson of Fond du Lac; Halvor Gilbertson of Medford; Mrs. Martha Harmel, Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gilbertson, Withee; Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Sather, Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Becken, Colby; Mrs. Pauline Hansen, sister of the deceased; and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Guske of Washburn.
