Niemi, Joseph E. (30 JUN 1883 - 18 JUL 1948)
Joseph Erland Niemi was laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. from the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin). The Rev. Poutinen of Owen officiated at the final rites.
Pallbearers were Kauno Niemi, Frank Luoma, Gus Sillampa, Sylvester Bjorn, Matt Lampi and Herman Ranta. Flower girls were Mesdames Torn Jablonic, Dave Churkey, Bernice and Sylvia Hutter, Lorraine Stigsen and Miss Ruth Hill.
During the service Mesdames Frank Luoma and Kauno Niemi sang two selections. They were accompanied by Dan Atola at the Organ.
Joseph Erland Niemi was born in Teuva, Finland June 30, 1883. He was 65 years and 18 days at the time of his death, which came suddenly Sunday morning as a result of a heart attack.
Mr. Niemi had lived in this vicinity for 35 years, residing on a farm three miles southeast of the city.
He is survived by his wife Hilma, one son Onni of Owen, one daughter, Mrs. Linda Anderson, and five grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends.
