Fortier, Arthur R. (1 MAR 1907 - 4 JUL 1948)

Arthur R. Fortier, age 41, of Iron Mountain, Mich., and former resident of this community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday, July 4, 1948, at his summer home at Spread Eagle, where he and his family had gone to spend the holiday weekend. Mr. Fortier was born March 1, 1907, and lived here with his mother and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Virch. He attended the public schools here and later Northland College at Ashland.

He was president of the Bacco Construction Co., Iron Mountain, president of the Home Furnishing Co., vice president of Champion Inc., director of the Iron Mountain Chamber of Commerce and member of the Elks Lodge and Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marion Vickey; two sons, Arthur, Jr., and John; one daughter, Mary Lee; three brothers, Jean of Waukegan, Ill.; Lee of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Orbin of Santa Ross, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. J. A. Grant of Philadelphia, Pa.

Funeral services were conducted July 7 from the First Presbyterian Church at Iron Mountain. Burial was made at Cemetery Park.
