Greech, Betty (7 AUG 1948)
Repeating the nuptial vows after the Rt. Rev. Dr. K. O. Crosby, Miss Betty Greech became the bride of James E. Zar, in a lovely ceremony performed at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 1948 at St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.).
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin C. Greech of this city, while the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zar of Ashland, Wis.
Approaching the altar on the arm of her father, the bride was beautifully gowned in ice blue satin of ballerina length with a Basque waist and long sleeves. She carried an old fashioned bouquet with pink tea roses in its center.
Attending the couple were Miss Betty Lou Bulgrin as maid of honor and Howard Johnson of Ashland, a close friend of the groom. Serving as ushers were Howard and Norman Erickson of Curtiss.
During the double ring ceremony Mrs. Russell Volkman of Milwaukee sang "The Lord’s Prayer" by Malotte, and "I Love Thee" by Grieg. Miss Sidney Toraason was accompanist at the organ.
Following the ceremony a reception and dinner was served to 65 guests in the church parlors. Adding to the beauty of the occasion were the attractive decorations on the tables, which were done in pink and white with large occasional bouquets of old fashioned garden flowers.
Both the young people have had two years of college, having been enrolled at Northland College at Ashland. After a honeymoon trip of a week’s duration which they are spending in Northern Minnesota they will establish their future home at 1400 Yale Place in Minneapolis. Mrs. Zar has enrolled at MacPhails College of Music.
Among the guests attending the wedding were the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zar and his sister Beverly and brother Eugene of Ashland, also Mr. Tony Zar, Mrs. Margaret Zar, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mathiometz, Mrs. Francis Spaum, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Moll, Mrs. Howard Johnson, Mrs. Roy Shaemaker, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lewis, Janice Lewis, and Ruth Birce, all of Ashland.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zar and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Volkman of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Organ and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Organ of Duluth, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart and Koris Stewart of Greenwood, and Gloria Wolfram of Chicago, Ill.
