Boening, Mildred D. #2 (25 SEP 1948)

Miss Mildred D. Boening, daughter of Mrs. Ralph Weidman of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of James M. Gummerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Gummerson, Owen, on Saturday morning at Holy Rosary Church at Owen. The Rev. Raymond Bornbach officiated at the ceremony and celebrated the Nuptial Mass.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her grandfather, Joseph Kettner, wore a gown of white slipper satin with a yoke of illusion net, outlined with a ruffle edged with Chantilly lace. Her fingertip veil was held in place with a coronet of seed pearls. Her jewelry was a chain and cross a memory gift of her father. She carried a prayer book to which was fastened an orchid with streamers of satin ribbon and stephanotis.

Miss Mary Jane Boening as her sister’s maid of honor, wore a gown of golden sun faille with gloves and hat to match and carried a colonial bouquet of orchid gladioli and yellow chrysanthemums. Mrs. Jack Gummerson, the bride’s sister-in-law, wore a gown the same as the maid of honor, made with fitted bodice and full skirt, and matching gloves and hat.

The groom was attended by his brother, Jack Gummerson, and the bride’s brother, James Boening.

The bride’s mother wore a black dress with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses and white carnations. The groom’s mother was present in a royal blue dress with black accessories and a corsage of pink roses and white carnations.

A dinner was served to the immediate families at the Ralph Weideman home. Later a reception was given the newlyweds at Weidemans, at which more than 150 guests attended.

The bride is a graduate of the Withee High School. The groom graduated from the Owen High School, the University of Wis. Extension, at Milwaukee, and is a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps.

Following a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and a stay at Bart’s Rest Lake Resort they will reside in Owen where the groom is employed at the Gummerson Implement Co.
