Mertens, Kathryn (24 Mar. 1886 - 26 Nov. 1957)
Mrs. Kathryn Mertens died at her home in Fond du Lac at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, following several years of illness, at the age of 71 years. Funeral services were held October 29 at 8:30 at the Candish chapel and at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s church, Fond du Lac, Rev. Edward V. Theisen officiating, and burial was made in the Calvary cemetery.
Mrs. Mertens was born on Mar. 24, 1886, in the town of Colby, Clark county, daughter of Bernard and Gertrude May Kramer, and married John Mertens April 12, 1915, in Fond du Lac. They lived three years at Colby, two at Lamartine, and, since that time, on the present farm.
Surviving, besides the widower, are two daughters, Mrs. Richard Schingen of the town of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Peter Davis of Elkhorn; seven grand children; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Krueger of Phillips, Mrs. Charles Krueger of Winneconne and Mrs. Frank Kindness of Fond du Lac; two brothers, Bernard Kramer of Jamestown, N.D., and Joseph Kraemer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A sister preceded her in death.
