Piekola, Mr./Mrs. Gust (50th - 10 OCT 1948)
The Golden Wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Gust Piekola who have lived in this vicinity since 19??, was celebrated, Sunday, Oct. 10, 1948, at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Frank Schwanke, route 1, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), where open house was held.
Among the many visitors who called to extend greetings were friends from Herbster, Iron River and other Wisconsin communities. Mrs. Piekola’s brother and two sisters-in-law from Seattle, Wash., also attended the anniversary festivities.
Cards and telegrams were received from Canada and Ely, Minn. Where the family lived before coming to Clark Co.
Mr. and Mrs. Piekola were married in Nyborg, Sweden and arrived in Minnesota in 1904. Their children, besides Mrs. Schwanke (Clara), are Theodore, who operates the town of Beaver farm which was virtually wilderness when the Piekola family settled there and another daughter, Mrs. Jennie Brecker, of Owen. They have one grandson, Owen Brecker, who is in the Navy and is station at Boston, Mass., and was unable to attend.
