Debevec, Anton, Sr. (4 June 1881 - 15 October 1970)
Anton Debevec, Sr., 89, of Greenwood died last week Thursday in Neillsville,
where he was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago.
Mr. Debevec was born
June 4, 1881, in Yugoslavia. He came to the United States in 1906 and was
married July 9, 1909, to Mary Zevnik at Lorraine, O. They came to Willard in
1912 and settled on a farm. Mrs. Debevec died in 1947. He came to Greenwood four
years ago and was a resident at the Clark County Home for the Aged until he was
taken to the hospital. Mr. Debevec was a member of the Holy Family Catholic
Church in Willard and of the American Slovenian Catholic Union Society.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Rakovec of Marshfield and
Mrs. Eleanor Fale of Brookfield, Ill.; six sons: Robert and Frank of Willard,
Anton of Greenwood, Charles of Rockville, Md., Ralph of Lodi and Ray of Pasco,
Wash.; 38 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services
were held Monday from the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood and the Holy Family
Catholic Church in Willard. The Rev. Michael Mertens officiated. Burial was made
in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were his six sons.
