Smith, Jane Carol (Marriage –1950)

St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal was the recent scene of the wedding of Miss Jane Carol Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David F. Smith of Loyal, and John Bertz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bertz, also of Loyal.

The bride wore a gown of white eyelet batiste in the new ballerina length. The fitted bodice was trimmed with rows of tiny buttons marching down the front and a Peter-Pan collar. The skirt was full and tiered. A garland style bouquet of white roses, carnations, and swansonia was carried by the bride.

The bridal attendants were Miss Geny Bertz, sister of the groom, as maid of honor, and Miss Lois Smith, sister of the bride, as bridesmaid. They wore lavender eyelet gowns.

The groom was attended by Ed Bertz, Jr., brother of the groom, and Harry Smith, brother of the bride, as best man and groomsman, respectively.

James Hannan and David Bertz, cousins of the groom, were ushers.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of the Loyal High School.
