Papenfus, George (22 July 1879 - 6 Jan. 1958)
George Papenfus died at his home in Abbotsford on Monday morning, following a stroke at the age of 78 years. Funeral services will be held in the Hoeper-Kraut Funeral home in Owen this Thursday at 2:00 P.M., Rev. Charles A. Koch of Greenwood officiating, and internment will be made in Pine Hill cemetery at Curtiss.
Mr. Papenfus was born in Germany on July 22, 1879, and came to this country at an early age with his parents who settled on a farm in the town of Colby, Wis. He spent most of his life in the Colby and Abbotsford area as a carpenter. He married Lena Marks, who survives, on June 29th, 1904, at Colby, Wis.
Also surviving are two sons, Henry, of Chicago, Ill., and Harold of Brookfield, Wis.; two daughters, Mrs. Sievert (Leona) Sjoblom of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Herman (Irene) Krause of Greenwood, and five grand children.
