Puscheck, Maj. Herbert C. (Military Notes - 1970)
Major Herbert C.
{Puscheck son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Puscheck of Chili, received the Legion of
Merit recently in Monterey, Calif.
One of America’s oldest decorations,
the Legion of Merit, like the Purple Heart, traces its lineage to the Badge for
Military merit established by Gen. George Washington in 1782. He received the
award in recognition of exceptionally meritorious performance and outstanding
service. It recognizes his achievements as a leader and his ability to carry out
the demands and responsibilities of his assignment.
Major Puscheck earned
the award during his last assignment with the 159th Engineer group on Vietnam.
The Major is now assigned as an associate professor at the navy management
systems center in Monterey. He entered the army in 1958, and also holds the
Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
Major
Puscheck received a B.S. degree in 1958 from the U. S. Military Academy at West
Point, N. Y.; a Master’s degree in 1964 from Purdue University at Lafayette,
Ind., and a Doctor’s degree in 1969 from Purdue University.
His wife,
Elizabeth, lives at Ft. Ord, Calif.
