LaVern A. "Bud" Bentzler, 85, Neillsville, died, on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Memorial Nursing Home, Neillsville. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

LaVern A. Bentzler was born on Oct. 23, 1923, in Loyal, to George and Leona (nee Schweiger) Bentzler. He married Ruth Cartwright on Dec. 23. 1944. They were later divorced.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Noel Cartwright, Grafton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one step-grandson; five brothers, Donald (Georgiane) Bentzler, Marshfield, George Bentzler Jr., Crivitz, Edward (Donna) Bentzler, Rochester, N.H., Raymond (Darlene) Bentzler, Hartford, and Kenneth (Holly) Bentzler, New London; six sisters, Virginia Grutzik, Marshfield, Mary (Myron) Burkhardt, Henderson, Nev., Leona (Irban) Aumann, Marshfield, Darlene (Richard) Lasch, South Bend, Ind., Kathleen (Ronald) Froeba, Loyal, and Janet Freubrodt, Marshfield; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Bentzler, Marshfield.

Preceding him in death were his son, Francis Cartwright; his parents; his brothers, Jerome Bentzler and Garland (Harry) Bentzler, and a sister, Lorraine.
