Suda, Charles (Barn fire - 23 JAN 1966)
Greenwood firemen battled in subzero weather Sunday afternoon against a blaze
that destroyed a 48 x 28 barn on the Charles Suda farm, 3 miles northwest of
Greenwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Johnson, neighbors, spotted the blaze
about 4 p.m. and notified Mr. Suda, who called the fire department. Mr. Suda was
not at home at the time. Neighbors rescued some calves and pigs, and also
removed a tractor and manure spreader from the burning building. The animals are
being cared for at farms in the neighborhood.
The loss has been estimated
at $5,000, party covered by insurance.
