Frane, Laura (20 Feb. 1886 - 8 Mar. 1958)
Mrs. Louis W. Frane of Colby, Wisconsin died at 5:20 Saturday morning at the age of 72 years at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital where she had been a patient since suffering a stroke the previous Monday. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic church and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.
A lifetime resident of Colby, the former Laura Philippi was born Feb. 20, 1886. She was a rural school teacher for several years before her marriage, which took place June 18, 1913. Her husband, who died Sept. 5, 1942, was in the garage business here for several years and then operated the Star Bottling Works.
Mrs. Frane was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of St. Mary’s Church, the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was well known for her fine Christian character and friendly and winning ways. She will be missed by many.
Surviving are three sons, Virgil of Milwaukee and John and David of Colby; four daughters, Miss Margaret Frane of Milwaukee, Mrs. William (Kathleen) Rodas of Lebanon, Mo., Mrs. L. K. (Mary) Hildebrand of Portsmouth, Va., and Mrs. Arthur (Betty) Fredricks of Elm Grove; 33 grand children. Five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Frane were held Tuesday, March 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. John B. Pinion officiating, and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Herbert Kanter, Alois Gabriel, Gerald Beyerl, Douglas Rifleman, Joseph Philippi and Orville Chase.
Out-of-town people here for the funeral were Mrs. Mike Philippi, Mrs. Frank Duvall, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Chase and family of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Chase of Westboro, Miss Margaret Frane and Virgil Frane and children of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fredricks of Elm Grove, Mrs. Lewis K. Hildebrand of Portsmouth, Va., Victor Frane of Wittenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Frane of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Frane of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Frane and Mrs. William Schmidt of Athens, Mrs. T. C. Frane of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Rifleman of Edgar, Gerald Beyerl of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Chase of Fish Creek.
