OWEN -- Peter W. Wittek, 83, of the town of Hoard, Clark County, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. The committal service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Lublin with military rites being conducted by the American Legion Lublin Post 547.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. A parish prayer service will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Peter was born March 23, 1925, in Taylor County to John and Mary (Swiatek) Wittek. Peter was married Jan. 31, 1948, to the former Jean Kacmarczyk at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Peter was engaged in farming and also worked at the Teledyne Lumber Company in Owen as a supervisor foreman. He later became an owner/operator of the V&R Saw Mill in rural Withee.

Peter is survived by his children, Sandra (Mike) Cebula of Montello, Dianne Wittek of Owen, and Pamela (Gary) Ackerman of Maple Grove, Minn.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank (Shirley) Wittek of Withee.

He was preceded in death by his wife.
