On Saturday, Jan. 8, 1966, at high noon a solemn
nuptial mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Mr. Carmel Church by Rev. Eugene
Faucher, James C. Kowieski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kowieski, Glenview, Ill.,
and the late Frank Kowieski too Mary Faith Kirkley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
James Kirkley of Sheridan Road, Chicago, as his bride.
She wore an off
white satin sheath dress with an empire waist. A very long wide train flowed
from the cowl neck of her dress. On her head the bride wore a satin crown with a
blusher veil, she carried a corsage of Amazon lilies and stephanotis.
The
bride's attendants were Bridge McTeague, Judy Schmitt and Nikki Nystrom, wore
dresses with blue velvet tope and three shades of blue brocaded full length
skirts.
They wore blue velvet bows as a headpiece. The girls carried
green ivy with green tinted carnations.
Top hats and tails were the
formal attire of the groom and the best man, who was Robert Janczak and the
usher, Don Grabowski and William Lasowitz.
The miniature couple were
Tammy Tomaszkiewicz, niece of the groom, and Kevin Kirkley, brother of the
bride. Tammy wore a full length blue velvet dress, a bow in her hair, and
carried a basket of green tinted carnations and ivy. Kevin was attired like the
groom.
The bride's mother wore a peacock blue ribbon knit suit with black
accessories, while the groom's mother wore a shocking pink silk serge suit, lace
trimmed with brown accessories. Each wore gardenia corsages.
The bride
attended Immaculate High School and De Paul University, Chicago. The groom
attended Taft High School and the University of Illinois, Champaign.
The
reception was held at Allegrettes for about one hundred guests. Those from out
of town who attended were John Allen, New York; Paul Hollywood, New Jersey, and
the bride's uncle, Robert Lockwood, from California. From Thorp (Clark Co.,
Wis.) were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Misfeldt and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Herman, and Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Herman from Janesville, the groom's aunts and uncles.
James is the grandson of Mrs. Charles Herman Mrs. John Kowieski of Thorp, Wis.
