Slowiak, Emily (10 JUN 1947)
At a nuptial high mass at St. Mary’s Church in Stanley on June 10th, 1947 at 9:30 a.m., Emily Slowiak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Slowiak, became the bride of Harold John Ryba, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ryba Sr.
The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Leo C. Pollack.
The bride was gowned in white lace with a sweetheart neckline and long sleeves, full skirt and long lace train. Her fingertip lace trimmed veil was held in place with orange blossoms. She wore a gold cross, given her by her parents and an emerald rosary, gift of the groom. Her bouquet was of white carnations with lily of the valley streamers.
Miss Joan Szczech, cousin of the bride, was her maid of honor, dressed in white net over taffeta with a white blusher. She carried a bouquet of red carnations. Miss Susan Tomkowiak, in white net over taffeta, Miss Corrine Proulx, cousin of the groom, in white taffeta, and Miss Colleen Robertson in white crepe, were the bridesmaids. Each wore a white blusher and carried bouquets of red carnations.
The groom was attended by his brother, Milton Ryba, Henry Slowiak, cousin of the bride, and Carl Slowiak, the bride’s brother.
Mr. and Mrs. Ryba will make their home on the farm west of Stanley.
