NEILLSVILLE -- Shirley Beck, 79, of Neillsville died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the town of Weston.

Shirley was born April 7, 1929, in Blakely, Pa., to Ignatz and Agnes (Schap) Karpinski. She married David Beck on Nov. 27, 1947, in Blakely. She has resided at Neillsville since 1974, and was employed in medical records at Neillsville Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1992.

Survivors include her husband, David Beck; four sons, George (Linda) Beck, Hurley, Kip (Margie) Beck, Cecil, Richard (Susan) Beck, Owen, and John Beck, Morgantown, W.V.; two daughters, Virginia (Charles) Biggs, Louisville, Texas, and Phillis (David) Brey, St. James, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Karpinski, Lyndon, N.J.; and one sister, Theodoa Lewandowski, Silver Springs, Md.
