Uhlig, Gust (15 June 1871 - 25 July 1958)
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Zink Funeral Home in Abbotsford for Gust Uhlig who died Friday morning of old age complications at the age of 87 years. Rev. Lillian Jensen officiated and burial was made in the Pine Hill Cemetery at Curtiss.
Mr. Uhlig was born on June 15, 1871, and came to the United States when a young man and engaged in farming in the Colby area. On March 27, 1901, he married Frieda Teichert who survives him. In 1918, they moved to another farm in the town of Mayville where they were engaged in farming until 1948 when they moved to Abbotsford where he was employed at Streckert’s for five years before retiring.
Surviving are four sons, George Uhlig of Pittsville, William Uhlig of Colby, Emil Uhlig of Dorchester and Alvin Uhlig of Abbotsford; 22 grand children, 20 great grand children; two brothers, William Uhlig of Glidden and Paul Uhlig of Boone, Iowa. Two children, Gorman and Norman Uhlig, and two sisters, Mrs. William Volkmar and Mrs. John Tangeman, preceded him in death.
