Cardarelli, Liberato “Bill” and Mary (Reunion - 10&11 September 2013)

Five first cousins, granddaughters of Liberato (Bill) and Mary Cardarelli met in Neillsville Sept. 10 and 11 for a fun reunion together. Mrs. Cardarelli came to America from Italy in 1879 and Mary from Bohemia also in 1879. They met, married and moved to Neillsville in 1890, buying and clearing 154 acres for a farm on what is now known as River Avenue. They worked hard and raised nine children on this farm. Those attending the reunion were Nancy Andrews, Quincy, CA; Ruth Anderson, Edina, MN; Janelle Weisner, Brownsville; Marian Michelkamp, Stevens Point; and Mary Lou Meredith, Neillsville. One female cousin is deceased and Dixie Courant, St. Paul, MN, and Ardys Hustad, Hudson, were unable to attend.

Points of interest visited included the original Cardarelli farm site, Sidney, Shortville, and other former homes of aunts and uncles, The Highground, Jail Museum, and the graves of their grandfather, grandmother and great-grandmother, which Liberato brought to America once he was settled here. There was a lot reminiscing about years gone by and lots of remembering the good times they had together.
