Otto Charles Atcherson (21 Sep 1892 - 27 Feb 1992)
COLBY—Otto Charles Atcherson, 90 (should say 100 yrs.), formerly of Unity, Wis.
died at 1:25 pm Thursday at Colonial House Living Center, Colby.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Colby, with
the Rev. Kenneth Barnes officiating. Burial with military rites by Otto Kops
American Legion Post 358 of Unity, will be in
Brighton Cemetery,
Marathon County.
Visitation will be at Rux Funeral Home, Colby, after 4 pm today, and then at the
church from 12:30 pm until service time Saturday.
He was born Sept. 21, 1892, in Rio. He was raised by his foster parents, the
late Oscar and Belle Atcherson. He attended Madison area schools and the
agriculture short course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a
veteran of World War I. He married Beryl Walrath Oct. 8, 1919, and she died June
21, 1974.
He farmed in Adams County and then moved to the Town of Unity in 1923. He farmed
in the Town of Unity until retirement.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Unity Senior Citizens
Club. He was also a member of American Legion Post 158 and was past commander
and chaplain of the post.
Survivors include one son, Wilfred of Unity; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Marlea)
Hein of Stratford; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was also predeceased by four grandchildren.
