Konik, Dennis Allan (May 18, 1931 - June 3, 2003)
DENNIS KONIK - Dennis A. Konik, age 72, of 8713 Northern Lane, Newton, died Tuesday morning, June 3, 2003, at his residence.
Dennis was born May 18, 1931, in Curtiss, Wis., son of the late Steven and Adeline (Awe) Konik Sr.
He was a graduate of Central High School, Sheboygan, with the class of 1950. Dennis served with the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Laws.
On Sept. 15, 1956, he married the former Mary Jean Schoenborn at Zion Reformed Church, Sheboygan.
Dennis was employed for 43 years with the Kohler Generator Co. until his retirement in 1994. He was also involved in the community as a past Newton Fire Department volunteer, a Newton Lions member and the Cleveland VFW.
Dennis is survived by his wife, MaryJean of Newton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford and Kay Konik of Manitowoc, David and Rebecca Konik of Newton, Scott and Julie Konik of Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Kevin Behnke of Newton; nine grandchildren, Crystal, Melissa and Brittany Konik, Samantha and Jacob Konik, Michael and Colby Konik, and Candice and Kayla Behnke; three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Robert and Jane Konik of Fond du Lac, Jerome and Judy Konik of California, John and Bonnie Konik of Cleveland, Betty Konik of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Arlie Haupt of Cleveland; and three brothers-in-law and on sister-in-law, Clem Schoenborn of Newton, Stanley and Mary Lou Schoenborn of Newton, Donald Schoenborn of Shawano.
He is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Jr. and a sister, Barbara.
Funeral serviced will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, 6524 County Highway C. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Ivan J. De Master with burial to follow at the church cemetery, where graveside military rites will be accorded.
The family will greet relatives and friends TODAY, Wednesday, June 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, Newton. Visitation will continue at the church Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the Konik Family with funeral arrangements.
Dennis was a very gifted mechanic, who enjoyed working on engines until his health no longer allowed him to. Dennis took great pleasure in family vacations and loved the time he spent with his grandchildren. We will all miss you.
