Mesiar, Virginia R. (17 March 1933 - 19 November 2008)

Virginia R. Mesiar, 75, formerly of Lake Hallie, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Chippewa Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.

She was born March 17, 1933, in Thorp to Frank and Edna (Conrad) Bogumill. Virginia married Charles Mesiar on December 26, 1953, in Gilman. They lived in Waukegan, IL, and then in Janesville. They owned and operated a resort on Rooney Lake near Spooner. In 1968, they bought Gunderson Vault Co. in the Town of Hallie. They expanded the business as Chippewa Burial Vaults, and they owned and operated it for 29 years until retiring in June 1997. She was a member of Hallie United Methodist Church in Lake Hallie.

Survivors include two daughters: Andrea (Jim) Baldeshwiler of Chippewa Falls and Donna (Gregory) Dierauer of Menomonie; two sons: Keith Mesiar of Eau Claire and David (Riki) Mesiar of Anchorage, Alaska; 10 loving grandchildren: Paul, Gregg, Mark, Scott, Kyle, Ryan, Trevin, Lexi, Kevin, and Carrie; two great-grandchildren: Ashton and Avery; and one sister, Anita (Jack) Goebel of Gilman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Charles on April 14, 1999.

A funeral service was held at Hallie United Methodist Church in Lake Hallie, with the Rev. Eric Nelson officiating. Interment was in Prairie View Cemetery in Lake Hallie. Friends were able to call one hour before the service at the church.

Ginny enjoyed traveling with her best friend, Margaret; hot coffee, and fellowship with the Tuesday night coffee group, birthdays at the park, baking and cooking, trips to Alaska, Christmas, birds, piano playing, chocolate, and candy. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, her special dog, Carlton, and her friends Joanie, Kelly and Nell.

The family would like to thank Jen Lenfestey, Judy DeVeau, and Cathy Couillard at Our House, along with the rest of the staff there and the staff at Chippewa Manor.

Memorial contributions in Virginia’s honor can be made to the Chippewa County Humane Association.

Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls served the family.
