Walsdorf, August (15 AUG 1873 - MAY 1948)

August Walsdorf, 74, a resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) for nearly fifty years, died at his home in this city after a long illness. He had retired from active business a few years ago and enjoyed good health in his declining years until he came down with sickness about one year ago. He failed rapidly during the past two months.

Mr. Walsdorf was born in New Holstein, Wis., on Aug. 15, 1873. On Nov. 15, 1898 he was united in marriage to Mary Possley at St. Anne, Wis. They came to this community two years later and became engaged in farming near Thorp. He moved to the village in 1910 with his family and this was his home until his death.

He was one of four brothers who were pioneer residents of this community. Peter and William Walsdorf preceded him in death. Besides his wife, Mary, he is survived by one son, Leland of Ladysmith, one daughter Linda (Mrs. Peter Luffy) of Thorp, one brother Joseph Walsdorf of Stanley, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. M. Muckerheide at St. Bernard’s Church at nine o’clock Thursday morning, May 20th with interment in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Possley, Charles Possley, Theo, Dickrell, Eugene Brunner, Louis Walsdorf and Wilfred Vanderhyden.
