Reburial graveside services will be held for Pvt. Walter R. Mattson at Fort Snelling on Saturday, June 19, at 1 p.m.
Pvt. Mattson, who was a bazooka man with the 357 Inf., 90th Division, Patton’s Third Army, was killed at St. Lo on July 19, 1944.
Pvt. Mattson was publisher of The Holdingford Herald, Holdingford, Minn., from May 15, 1939, until the time of his death. Prior to coming to Holdingford he worked on the Thorp Courier at Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis., for nine and one-half years, and one year ago on The Kerkoven Banner.
He was born in Cokato, Minn., May 5, 1907, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Mattson, who survive with the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. K. C. Stroup, Flint, Mich.; Albin Mattson, Cokato, Minn.; Mrs. Emil Hendrickson, Annandale, Minn.; Arthur Mattson, Cokato, Minn.; and Willard Mattson, Buffalo, Minn.
