A shock passed over the entire community Tuesday evening when word passed from one to the other that Mrs. Ellingson had passed from this life. During the afternoon she mingled and conversed with friends at different places in her usual jolly manner. She suffered a stroke of apoplexy at her home at 6:30 that evening and died at 9:15 the same evening.

Stella PreFountain was born June 13, 1878, at New London. Her mother died when she was two years old. At the age of 13 years she made her home with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Moss at Stetsonville. She was united in marriage to Martin Ellingson, Nov. 16, 1897. They resided at Dorchester for less than a year, them moved to this vicinity which was then an entire wilderness. Mr. Ellingson operated a saw mill for the next 25 years, and she assisted him in this work for many years by managing the boarding house.

Mrs. Ellingson was a charter member of St. Thomas Catholic church and the Catholic Altar Society. She was a faithful member of the church and a good worker in the Society, assuming the responsibilities of its different offices at various times. She was also a member of the Milan Woman’s Club to which she gave much assistance in numerous ways. She always made a special effort to help the sick and needy.

A Requiem High Mass was held at St. Thomas Catholic church, Saturday morning at 10 o’clock. The Rev. Frank Brickel officiated. Internment was made at the Abbotsford cemetery. Paul Benzmann, Charles Schmidt, John Zell, George Blank, Werner Schaefer and Emil Schade, acted as pallbearers.

The very large attendance and the many floral offerings at the funeral gave evidence of the high esteem in which the deceased was held.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, two sons, Arvin of Abbotsford and Eldred of Milwaukee, and two grand-children, Arvin Jr. and Adell Ellingson.
