Next Friday ushers in the year 1886. Everybody, or nearly everybody, will be making new resolves, some of them to be kept as much as two weeks while others will be broken the next day. While folding the tattered and blotted page of 1885 in preparation of filing it away in the pigeon hole of time, allow the Phonograph to wish you one and all a Happy New Year.
Some people laughed at T. Bleichroth, the jeweler, when he bought the cradle at Haberstitzer’s auction last fall, and remarked that it "might come in handy some time." Now, the jeweler can laugh at those who laughed. It has come handy. The jeweler has got use for the cradle and has had since last Sunday. It is a girl and the jeweler is happy.
