Badner, Irene E. (Marriage - 29 Nov. 1958)
Miss Irene E. Badner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Badner of Bellwood, Ill., and Raymond W. Smudde of Colby were united in marriage Saturday, Nov. 29, at 10 A.M. in St. Simeon’s Catholic church in Bellwood. Father Swiek performed the double-ring ceremony and celebrated the nuptial mass.
The bride, accompanied by her father, wore a floor-length gown of chantille lace fashioned with a molded bodice featuring a scalloped neckline edged in pearls and sequins. The long sleeves tapered to points at the wrists. The skirt fell from an open crown highlighted with sequins and pearls. The veil was cathedral length. She carried a bouquet of white roses and stephanotis.
Theresa Smudde, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. Estelle Oakenas and Mary Callahan, friends of the bride, were bridesmaids. They wore identical fashioned floor-length formals of light blue taffeta with full skirts with large bows in the back of the gown draped to the floor. They had matching headdresses of blue crowns. The maid of honor carried yellow roses as her bouquet. The bridesmaids carried pink roses. They also wore pearl ear rings and necklaces, gifts of the bride.
The brother of the bride, Edward Badner, was best man. George Smudde and Anton Smudde, brothers of the groom, were groomsmen. They wore midnight blue tuxedos with white boutonnieres.
A reception was held at the bride’s home at 4:00 P.M. Dinner was served guests at 5:30 P.M. after which a dance was held in the basement of the bride’s home.
The newlyweds are making their home in Bellwood, Ill.
