Wegner, August C. (26 NOV 1864 - 22? JAN 1949)
August Conrad Wegner died at the home of hid daughter, Mrs. Louis Dudkiewicz in Green Bay, Wis. He reached the age of 84 years, 1 month and 26 days.
He was born in Poland on Nov. 26, 1864 and married there to Marie Kuczinski on Oct. 30, 1887. They moved to America four years later and resided in Chicago, Ill. for several years before moving to Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis., where Mr. Wegner was engaged in lumbering and farming until his retirement several years ago. Since then he has made his home in Green Bay with his daughter Mary.
He was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church and a member of St. Joseph’s Society, the Holy Name Society and the Third Order of St. Francis. His wife Marie and one daughter Agnes preceded him in death several years ago.
August Wegner is survived by two sons, Frank of Chicago, John of Thorp, and seven daughters, Mrs. (Catherine) Mrs. Joseph Wagner of Chicago; (Mary) Mrs. Louis Dudkiewicz of Green Bay, Wis.; (Anna) Mrs. Max Deruntz of Harvey, Ill.,; (Frances) Mrs. Chas. Chmel of Chicago; (Martha) Mrs. Bruno Jarocki of Thorp; (Estelle) Mrs. Edward V. Przybylski of Thorp, and (Elizabeth) Mrs. Michael Kaminski of Thorp. Also surviving him are 42 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
His body was brought to the Thorp Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 23. Funeral services took place at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church at ten o’clock a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25th with Mass offered by Rev. Ernest Kaim, Rev. Francis Piekarski and Rev. Jerome Kamla.
Interment took place in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery in the family lot. The following served as pallbearers: Messrs. Joseph Moczarny, Joseph Panek, Joseph Kaminski, Martin Tomkowiak, John Mikrut and Peter Wnek.
The following from out of town attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Leon Dudkiewicz and grandson Allen of Green Bay; Frank Wegner, Mrs. Catherine Wagner, Mrs. Frances Chmel, Mrs. Irene Warzecha, Mrs. Doris Rusucki of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Max Deruntz of Harvey, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dudkiewicz, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Dudkiewicz, Mrs. Ced Sokolski and son Raymond of Green Bay.
