Lichte, Elmer Heinrich Rudolph (12 November 1919 - 24 December 2008) With Flag
Elmer Lichte, 89, of Neillsville died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.
Elmer Heinrich Rudolph Lichte was born Nov. 12, 1919, on the home farm in the Town of Grant, Clark County, the son of Adolph and Paulina (Zwilling) Lichte. He attended the Kurth Grade School in the Town of Grant and seventh and eighth grades at the Zion Lutheran Church School. He enlisted into the United States Army and served in World War II in Germany as a medic. Upon his discharge, he returned to the family farm and farmed his entire life.
He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed talking about and working with tractors.
He is survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Laura Drescher and Eleanor (George) Huebner; and brothers, Irvin Lichte and Gerhardt (Ella) Lichte.
Funeral services for Elmer will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Dong Su Lee will officiate. Music will be provided by Charlotte Drescher, organist. Interment will be in the Town of Grant Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
Casketbearers are DeWayne Huebner, James Drescher, Paul Drescher, Dale Drinsinger, Jim Gall and Allen Lichte.
The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Elmer’s family with funeral arrangements.
