Witt, Martha M. (23 August 1880 -
29 December 1970)
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha M. Witt, 90, of Loyal,
who died December 29, 1970, at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville, were held
Saturday, January 2, at 11 a.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. The Rev.
Wm. Humlie officiated and burial was made in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs.
Witt, the former Martha Degen, was born August 23, 1880, in the Township of
Loyal. Her marriage to August Witt took place in Loyal on February 14, 1903. He
preceded her in death on July 5, 1964. She received her education in the Loyal
Area schools. After their marriage, the Witts farmed in Spokeville for 26 years,
moving to the city of Loyal upon their retirement. She was a lifetime member of
Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal and of its Ladies aid.
Survivors include
three children, Mrs. Bernard (Ella) Zuege of Milwaukee, Mrs. Agnes Trader of
Appleton, and Mrs. Albert Witt of Loyal, 10 grandchildren, and 16
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tom Trader, Charles Trader, Ken
Trader, Richard Zuege, David Zuege, and Robert Zuege. Mrs. Mavis Rossow sang
“Rock of Ages” and “Children of the heavenly Father.” Her accompanist was Mrs.
Gladys Olson.
