Elsie (Bjorn) Mannisto, Jan. 1, 1922 - Jan. 16, 2009

Elsa "Elsie" Bjorn Mannisto, age 87, of Eau Claire passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at Dove Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation in Eau Claire.

She was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Owen, the daughter of Joseph and Serafina "Sophia" (Haapaniemi) Bjorn. On June 1, 1946, she married Martin Mannisto in Waukegan, Ill.

She is survived by a daughter, Dyann (Robert) Borremans of Edgerton; a devoted son-in-law, Paul (Jean) Bertucci of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Dawn (Joseph) Stadelman of Beloit, Dana Borremans of Milwaukee, Andrea (Jamie) Voss of Minneapolis, Scott Bertucci of Eau Claire, Renee (Kyle) Herskovitz of St. Paul, and Neil Bertucci of Eau Claire; six great-grandchildren, Sam Stadelman, Reid Stadelman, Lilli Stadelman, Mira Voss, Serafina Elsa Voss and Andrea Renee Naylor; two sisters, Elvie Fredbeck of Waukegan, Ill., and Rachel Wenta of Savoy, Ill.; and many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin N., on Oct. 18, 1997; a daughter, Denise Kay Bertucci; six brothers; and two sisters.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marengo, with Vicar Scott Holoubek officiating.

Spring interment will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery in Marengo (Ashland County, Wisconsin).

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Roberts Funeral Home in Ashland and continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marengo.
