Hardrath, Sandra (Marriage - 5 Sept. 1959)
Married Saturday, Sept. 5, in St. Paul’s Lutheran church, Green Grove, were a Wausau couple, Miss Sandra Hardrath and Lawrence Fritz. Upon their return from a honeymoon on Mackinac Island and Niagara Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz will reside at 1309 Second St., Wausau. The bride is a bookkeeper at the First American State Bank in Wausau and her husband is an electrician in that city.
The Rev. Howard Timmermann officiated at 2 p.m. for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Hardrath of Owen and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elton Fritz of Owen. Mrs. Vernon Boss presided at the organ and Miss Barbara Sommer, cousin of the bride, sang "O Perfect Love" and "The Lord’s Prayer."
A reception for 300 guests followed in the church parlors and dancing at Colby Park Pavilion was enjoyed at night.
Wearing a bridal gown of embroidered tulle over net and taffeta, the former Miss Hardrath was given in marriage by her father. Scalloping, sequin and pearl embroidery embellished the gown, and pearls and sequins studded the satin-back crown which held her veil of illusion. Her bouquet of pink roses was surrounded with a ring of white roses and stephanotis.
Miss Suzanne Hardrath was her sister’s maid of honor and a friend of the groom, Robert Bakke of Owen, was best man.
Bridesmaids, the Misses Sally and Sheryl Hardrath, sisters of the bride, and Reva Fritz, sister of the groom, were escorted by Gordon Alexander, cousin of the bride, Ross Fritz, cousin of the groom, and William Schnette, cousin of the bride. All are from Owen with the exception of Mr. Schnette, who is from Unity, Wis.
The aides’ gowns of light blue were fashioned with tiny ruffling in the bodice and skirt, enhanced with embroidered lace. Their headpieces matched and were encrusted with pearls. The maid of honor carried white gladioli, lilies-of-the-valley and blue mums.
Satin and net styled the dress worn by the flower girl, Disa Larson of Marshfield, cousin of the bride. A band of flowers was in her hair and she carried a dainty basket filled with blossoms.
The groom’s brother, Gary Fritz, was ringbearer.
Alden Hardrath and Edward Potonik were ushers.
The bride’s mother chose for the wedding a toast brown sheath with matching accessories, while the groom’s mother was attired in a blue print silk sheath and matching accessories.
Mr. Fritz was graduated in 1957 from Owen-Withee High School and his bride was graduated from the same school in 1958.
