Baehr, Elaine R. (15 OCT 1949)

Miss Elaine Ruth Baehr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baehr of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of John Hans Alger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Alger of Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis., on Saturday, Oct. 15, 1949 at 1:30 p.m. in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. The Rev. Walter Schedler performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white marquisette over satin gown designed with seed pearls and rhinestones at the yoke. Lace ruffles were at the top of the shoulders and at the cuffs of her long sleeves. She had a panel of lace ruffles down the front of her gown. Satin covered buttons extended down the back to the waistline with a full sweeping train edged in lace. She wore a pearl necklace, her gift from the groom.

Her fingertip veil fell in graceful folds from a crown of seed pearls and rhinestones. She carried a muff made up of white chrysanthemums and baby mums.

Mrs. Edward Miller, Milladore, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a yellow marquisette gown with a sweetheart bonnet to match and carried a colonial bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums.

Bridesmaids were Miss Arlene Alger, sister of the groom, who wore a lavender marquisette gown and Miss Ruth Morgenson, Bakerville, friend of the bride, who wore an aqua marquisette gown. Both wore matching sweet heart bonnets and carried colonial bouquets to match their gowns. Each attendant wore a pearl necklace, a gift from the bride.

Dick Alger, brother of the groom, was best man, while Lester Rabska, cousin of the bride, was groomsman. The groom and his attendants wore blue suits with blue ties and wore white carnations. Ushers were Junior Alger, groom’s brother, and Edward Miller, bride’s brother-in-law.

The bride’s mother wore a pink and black dress with matching accessories, while the groom’s mother wore a blue dress with black accessories. They had a corsage of pink and white carnations.

Following the ceremony a dinner was served in the church basement for the 200 guests present. A dance was given in the evening at the Mileaway Ballroom at Thorp.

The bride was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield for the past summer. The groom has just recently received his discharge from the U.S. Army. After the couple return from their honeymoon, they will reside a short while at Withee.
