Wendell, Adolph (27 Aug. 1861 - 1943)

Adolph Wendell, aged 81 years, a retired blacksmith, who hand made Spencer his home for the past 60 years, died Thursday evening of last week at Marathon County Hospital in Wausau. The deceased was the son of the late Adolph and Mary Kratech) Wendell, and was born in Washington county, Wis. on August 27, 1861, and was married at Batavia Jan. 2, 1882 to the former Louisa Straub, who died four years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Otto (Hulda) Heintz and Mrs. William (Linda) Rath, both of Colby; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Kreitzinger of Plymouth; one half-brother, Fred Mural of Plymouth; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One son and one daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Swarthout Funeral Home, The Rev. A. C. Riley of the Colby Methodist church officiating. Interment was made in the
West Spencer Cemetery.

The pall bearers were Harry Prehn, Chas. Andre, Albert Martin, Otto Graham, Frank Corbett and Wm. Plath. Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Otto Heintz, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Roth, Mr. and Mrs. John Coates of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Roth of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Roth, Dr. and Mrs. E. J. Schmidt of Abbotsford; Mrs. Chas. Marber and Miss Cora Reinheimer of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Weymiller, Mrs. Aug. Fricke and Otto Weyhmiller of Loyal.
