Allar, Genevieve (Marriage - 17 Oct. 1959)

Miss Genevieve Allar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mathias Allar of Colby, and Frank Omelian, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Omelian, Sr., were united in marriage in St. Mary’s Catholic church at Colby Saturday morning at a 9:30 mass, Rev. John B. Pinion officiating at the wedding ceremony. Mrs. A. M. Gabriel presided at the organ and sang the "Ave Marie." The adult church choir also sang.

Miss Allar, on the arm of her father, came before the altar banked with white gladioli, yellow pompons and autumn leaves. She was wearing a gown of imported Chantilly lace and tulle over taffeta designed in floor length with long sleeves and a Queen Anne collar outlined with sequins. Her headpiece of pearls and sequins held a veil of French illusion and she carried a bouquet of red roses, white chrysanthemums and stephanotis.

Mrs. Andrew Kijak of Mosinee, the groom’s sister, was matron of honor and wore a gown of nylon lace and tulle in floor length with cap sleeves and lace bodice over a bouffant skirt. She carried a bouquet of white and yellow chrysanthemums tied with pink ribbon.

Bridesmaids, Miss Kathleen Ann Kniess of Cyrene, Mo., and Miss Ruth Ann Frane of Curtiss, wore gowns of pink in the same style as Mrs. Kijak. Their bouquets were tied with blue ribbons. All the attendants wore matching hats with open crowns and face veils.

Junior bridesmaids were Catherine Omelian, the groom’s sister of Athens, and Jeanette Frane of Colby, the bride’s cousin. Their dresses were styled as the bridal attendants but in white with the scattered rhinestones and they carried bouquets identical to the bride’s.

Andrew Kijak of Mosinee was best man to the groom with Dennis Frane of Colby and Steve Toboyek of Mosinee as groomsmen. Ushers were Eugene Teresinksi and Ronald Frane.

Breakfast and supper were served at St. Mary’s gym and a reception was held at the bride’s home. In the evening a dance was held at the Trianon Ballroom at Athens.

After a wedding trip to Illinois, the couple will be at home at Athens, Route 3, where the groom is engaged in farming. Mrs. Omelian had been a telephone operator at the General Telephone Co., office at Colby, Wis.
