Brandt, Leota Verla (6 June 1943)

Sunday, June 6, 1943

Miss Leota Verla Brandt, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. John Brandt of Dorchester exchanged wedding vows with Arthur H. Stapel, son of Rev. and Mrs. A. C. Stapel of Spencer, in a 4:00 P. M. ceremony performed in St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Dorchester with the Rev. John Brandt and the Rev. A. C. Stapel officiating. Nuptial music was provided by the Girls' trio, friends of the bride and groom, who sang "O Perfect Love," and the wedding marches were played by the groom's uncle, H. Ehlen. Attendants for the bride were Miss Bertha Brandt of Avon, S. D. cousin of the bride, as maid of honor; Misses Betty Jean Matthias and Helma Rueter, bridesmaids, and Velma Brandt, junior bridesmaid. Victor Brandt of Medford, brother of the bride, was best man and Rev. Martin Berterman and Arlan Brandt ushered.

The bride was attired in a white non gown fashioned with a long train and trimmed with lace inserts. Four tiers of billowing tulle formed her fingertip veil caught to a crown of seed pearls and she carried an arm bouquet. Her attendants were dressed in frocks of embroidered batiste in pastel shades of pink, aqua and yellow. Following the ceremony a dinner was served in the church parlors after which a reception for 50 guests was held at the home of the bride's parents.

After June 20 when they return from their wedding trip the couple will be at home to friends at 1126 1/2 Arthur Street, Wausau. The groom is a chemist in the Marathon Paper mill at Rothschild. Both are graduates of Central State Teachers college, Mr. Stapel in 1940 and his bride in 1941. Mrs. Stapel taught for one year in the Dunn County High School at Menomonie and the past year at the Auburndale high school. Guests included Mrs. H. C. Matthias, Mrs. E. H. Matthias, Betty Jean and Junior Matthias of Waterloo, Iowa; Bertha Brandt and Annetta Bertus of Avon, S. D.; H. Ehlen, Martha, Mary and Elaine Griep, Chaska, Min; Mrs. John Newall of Minneapolis and Helma Rueter of Springfield, Ill.

*** Note: wedding year was taken from Arthur H. Stapel Obit. for Clark Co. Records.
