Married by the Rev. William H. Ruhbusch on February 17, 1979 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, were Miss Pamela Jane Reckner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reckner, 401 Louisa Street, Spencer, and Ray Allen Melander, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Melander, Route 1, Unity.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents during a ceremony for which Mrs. Arnold Bruesewitz played and organ and Miss Kathy Bradle sang.

The bride entered the church wearing a floor length gown of organza and Chantilly lace with a chapel train and a matching veil with headpiece. In her bouquet were pink roses, stephanotis and baby’s breath.

Miss Janet Hamus of Marshfield was asked to be maid of honor, with Misses Deb and Cindy Reckner, and Miss Susan Endreas, all of Spencer, and Miss Andrea Melander, Unity, the bridesmaids. They had sheer organza formals in burgundy and pink, with capes, and their bouquets were comprised of chrysanthemums, carnations and baby’s breath in pink and burgundy.

Others in the wedding party were Greg Gaulke, best man; Frank Oelrich, Dave Pescinski and Jeff Reckner, all of Spender, and Mitch Melander of Unity, groomsmen.

Richard Wachholz and Terry Schneider performed ushering duties.

Flower girl was Tracy Schanz of Stratford and Grant Reckner, Marshfield, was ring bearer.

The wedding dinner and dance followed at the Village Plaza, Spencer.

The bride, a sales clerk ad Shopko in Marshfield, is a 1978 graduate of Spencer High School, from which her husband graduated two years earlier. He also attended the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, and took the farm business management course from 1977-78 at Mid-State Technical Institute, Marshfield. He is employed at Dickman Home, Spencer.

Brussow, Duain (1927? – 8 Mar 1979)

Duain Brussow, 51, of 4946 N. 44th Street, Milwaukee, passed away at his home Thursday, March 8, 1979 due to an apparent heart attack.

He was a resident of Loyal for 22 years. He then moved to Milwaukee and was employed by American Motors until the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Ann, and two sons, Sam 16 and Paul 12, two step-children, Mike Bennett of Carolina and Jean Bennett, Milwaukee; also his mother, Mrs. Clara White of Loyal, a sister, Shirley Vivoda of Appleton and a cousin, Steve Brussow of Loyal.

The funeral was held at the Abe Larson Funeral Home in Milwaukee on Monday, March 12.

Brown, Minnie (25 Dec 1899 – 17 Mar 1979)

Mrs. Minnie Brown, 79, Seattle, Washington, died at a nursing home in Seattle on Saturday, March 17, 1979.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21 at Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood. Rev. David Logue officiated and burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Gary Schultz was the organist and Mrs. Duane Olson the soloist.

Minnie Himes was born on December 25, 1899 in the Town of Beaver to Arthur and Nettie (Carey) Himes, and received her education at the Town of Beaver School, and attended Greenwood High School.

She was married to Hubert Brown in 24 Jul 1919 (date from Greenwood Cemetery listing).

They farmed in the Town of Eaton, later moving to Minnesota. She has been living in Seattle, Washington for the past 45 years.

She is survived by two son, Robert of Seattle and Wayne of Renton, Washington; three brothers, Lester Himes of Withee, Arthur Himes of owen, and Delmar Himes of Finland, Minnesota; three sisters, Mrs. Stella Creg of Owen, Mrs. Paul (Hazel) Acker of Greenwood, and Mrs. Alma Lange of Milwaukee; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert, in 1967; three brothers, two sons and two sisters.

Curtis Garrett, Leonard Himes, Eugene Himes, Dick Acker, Don Kocher and Jerome Kolpanen served as pallbearers. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.

Lulloff, Frank G. (15 Nov 1896 – 19 Mar 1979)

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 1979 at the United Methodist Church, Loyal, for Frank G. Lulloff, 82, of 308 S. Main Street, Loyal.

Mr. Lulloff died at 7:45 a.m., Monday, March 19 at Neillsville Hospital.

Reverend Charles Sanford will officiate. Mrs. Connie Meyer will be the soloist, accompanied by Julie Feldt on the organ.

Interment will be in the Loyal Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, after 3 p.m., Wednesday and after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the church.

Frank Lulloff was born to the late Frank and Wilhelmina (Paul) Lulloff on November 15, 1896, at Chilton, Wisconsin. He received his education at rural schools in Chilton.

He came to Clark County in 1920 and began working on a farm in Spokeville. He made cheese and later farmed in the Town of Loyal and Town of York.

He was married to Emma Werle on November 6, 1923 at Marshfield. She died in 1928. His second marriage was on August 2, 1930 at Minnesota to Neva Benedict.

In 1945, he began working for the Clark County Highway Department, retiring in 1962 after 17 years of employment. He then worked part time for six to seven years, and also helped in the summer for the City of Loyal.

Surviving him are his wife; two sons, Robert of Neillsville and William of Eau Claire; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Donna) Seltrecht of Gilmanton; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Cullen Ayer, Roy Schroeder, Otto Holnbach, Jim Klein, Lothar Oestreich and Glen Rossow.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; four sisters; four brothers and two grandsons.

Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, is in charge of arrangements.

Bio: Decker, Ron – Graduates From Broadcasting School (Mar 1979)

Trans American School of Broadcasting in Wausau, Wisconsin, wishes to announce the 1979 graduation ceremonies. Forty-two students from Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa and Ohio are scheduled to graduate March 18, 1979 at 1:30 p.m. at the Midway Motor Lodge in Wausau.

The graduating Trans American students will have completed 33 week-660 hours course of study. The Trans American Broadcasting curriculum is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the National Association of Trade and Technical Schools of Washington, D.C.

Veteran broadcaster, State Senator Walter John Chilsen, will address the tenth annual graduating class, and the 300 friends and relatives that are expected to attend.

Graduating from this area is Ron Decker, Route 3, Box 19, Greenwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Decker. He is a 1973 graduate of Greenwood High School.

Nanette Daleiden of Granton Girls’ Bulldog basketball team joined four other Marawood All-Conference. Accompanying Daleiden are Abbotsford’s Jeannie Apfelbeck, Marathon cager Cindy Lensmire, Jean Severson of Prentice and Rib Lake’s Julie Bieneck.

Daleiden is a junior at Granton. This was her third year as a starter. She scored 292 conference points during the season, and 350 points in overall play for the year. The scoring totals earned her high scorer of the conference position.

On Friday, March 2, 1979 at 7 p.m. Miss Diane Marie Drinsinger, Route 1, Granton, became the bride of Michael Duane Schmidt, Route 2, Pittsville. S. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield was the scene of the wedding, and Father Passehl officiated at the ceremony. JoAnn Grassman provided organ music.

Miss Drinsinger is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Drinsinger, Granton, and the groom is the son of Mrs. LaVonne Schmidt, Pittsville.

The bride was attired in a white gown with a beaded bodice and lace on the collar and long sleeves. She carried a cascading bouquet of white roses, green tipped carnations and baby’s breath. She wore a short veil with a beaded headpiece.

Miss Sandra Ann Wesenberg, Granton, was the maid of honor, and Miss Ann Knutson, Granton and Miss Penny Radloff, Lake Mills, were the bridesmaids. They were seen in mint green floor length dresses with a high neck, lace inserts and long sleeves. There flowers were white roses with green tipped carnations and baby’s breath.

Roman Novak, Waukesha, was the best man, and Tom Schmidt, Pittsville and Dale Drinsinger, Granton, were the groomsmen. Randy Novak, Waukesha, and Roger Nitschke, Granton, performed the ushering duties.

A reception and dance at the Village Plaza in spencer followed the ceremony.

The bride graduated in 1978 from Granton High School. The groom graduated in 1975 from Pittsville High School, and is a semi-driver.

The new couple is planning a wedding trip at a later date. They will make their home in Marshfield.

Forty-two seniors from Thorp High School will walk to the stage and accept their high school diplomas on Friday, May 19. It will represent the end of a long journey for the Class of 2023, but also the beginning of a new chapter as they take their first steps into the wider world.
They will be armed with the experiences and knowledge gained from their years with the School District of Thorp. The Class of 2023's top ten percent is Rachel Boehlke, Taylor Boie, Delaine Mathison, and Payton Rhyner.

Thorp Archers Headed to Nationals


Lakyn Luzinski, Taylor Kroeplin and Hunter Kodl will be shooting in Louisville, Kentucky May 13th. These archers have been practicing two days a week since State for this opportunity. Lakyn will be shooing Bullseye and 3D, while Taylor and Hunter will be shooting 3D. Congrats and best of luck to these three as they travel down to compete and to all their accomplishments throughout the season. There are a couple other tournaments that will be taking place in Kentucky while they are down there, and they also have the opportunity to compete at these tournaments as well.
