Siegmann, Johanna (2 Nov. 1908 - 12 Jan. 2009)

Johanna Siegmann, 100, formerly of 2321 First St. S., Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Strawberry Lane Medical and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident for the past four years.

Johanna was born Nov. 2, 1908, in Chili, and her early years were spent in the Marshfield area. She then attended Bible School in Iowa and spent many years in South Dakota as a missionary to the Native Americans there. She also pastored "The Gospel Mission," which she founded. When her mother became ill, she returned to Wisconsin Rapids to care for her. The rest of her years were spent doing housekeeping for area families and visiting people in nursing homes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, William and Harold, and sister, Rose. She is survived by a special nephew, Harold Jr., "Butch," of Anchorage, Alaska.

Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home is arranging for her burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. It was Johanna's wish to not have a public funeral.
