Eder, Lena (21 June 1874 - 18 Jan. 1960)

Mrs. Lena Eder died of complications at the home of her son, Floyd, in Colby Monday morning at the age of 85 years. The Christian Mothers Society held a rosary service Tuesday evening at the Lulloff Funeral Home and a general rosary service was held Wednesday night. Funeral services are being held this Thursday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. John B. Pinion officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. Eder, the former Lena Adrian, was born on June 21, 1874, at Freedom, Wis., and was married on September 15, 1896, to Henry Eder who died in 1937. The couple operated a farm south of Colby in the town of Hull.

Mrs. Eder was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic church and its Christian Mother’s Society. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic church and was well known for her willingness to perform her duties honestly and well, and, being of a kindly and friendly disposition, she had many friends who will miss her.

She is survived by two sons, Floyd of Colby and Everett of West Allis; five daughters, Mrs. Charles (Vivian) Conley of Baraboo, Mrs. Earl (Geraldine) Dalton of Lodi, Mrs. George (Ramona) Hassefort of Medford, Mrs. James (Genevieve) O’Brien of Van Nys, Calif., and Mrs. Paul (Beatrice) DeCaire of Houghton, Mich.; 11 grand children and 12 great grand children. Besides her husband, two children also preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Lena Eder last Thursday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wis., Rev. James Stauber officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Angus E. Lamont, Otto Baumgart, John Marx, Ben Apfelbeck, Wm. E. Sachse and Donald W. Schultz.

Out of town people who came to Colby for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Conley of Baraboo, Mrs. E. J. Dalton of Lodi, Mr. and Mrs. George Hessefort and Mrs. Morgan Peterson of Medford, Everett Eder, Mrs. Robert Beyerl and Walter Weller of Milwaukee, Mrs. Paul DeCaire of Houghton, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Adrian of Montello, Mrs. Clarence Rouse of Stevens Point, Mrs. James McCoy and Archie Adrian of Fond du Lac, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Firnstahl and Mr. and Mrs. Donald W. Schultz of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kowalk of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dalton and children of Deerfield, Ill.
