Wiersig, Harold Henry Herbert (14 Mar. 1913 - 4 Feb. 2001)

Spencer, Wis. - Harold Henry Herbert Wiersig, 87, of Spencer, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Karl Rose officiating.

Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery in the Town of Colby, Clark County. Grandsons Todd Boss, John Hermanson, Eric Wilhelmi, Joshua Brehm, Ben Brehm and Steve Emmons will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at Community Funeral Home in Spencer from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8; and then from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

Harold married Elizabeth Kuse on Oct. 22, 1936, in Colby, Wis. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1986.

He farmed east of Colby for 30 years. He moved to rural Unity in 1966 and was employed by Land O’Lakes in Spencer until retirement. He also sold ? fertilizer and ? seed corn for many years. [blurred text]

Harold was a past member of Zion Lutheran Church in Colby and a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. He was a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League, Zion Lutheran Dartball League, Aid Association for Lutherans, a former Zion trustee and school board member. Harold had resided at the Ponderosa Apartments in Spencer since 1994. His favorite activities were playing cards with family and friends, Senior Citizen activities and going for Sunday afternoon drives.

Survived by one son, Robert (Marge) Wiersig of Whitewater, Texas; four daughters, Pat (John) Hermanson of Bozeman, Mont., Carol (Earl) Wilhelmi of Colby, Cheri (Jack) Boss of Fall Creek and Linda (Tom) Brehm of Unity; 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Ella Wellman, Hilda (Leonard) Dommer and Olga (Richard) Behrens, all of Colby; and his sister-in-law, Vi Wiersig of Spencer.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, on Jan. 31, 1989, his parents, brother, Reinhart, and sister, Frieda Wiersig.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer or to the Lutheran Hour.
