Szymanski, Josephine (11 MAR 1864 - 29 JAN 1958)

Josephine Szymanski, 94, passed away of old age infirmities at the home of her son, John in the Town of Withee on Jan. 29, 1958. She was a resident of this community for 50 years.

Josephine Kopinski was born in Poland on March 11, 1864. There she was married to Steve Szymanski in 1884.

They came to this country in 1887 and lived in Buffalo, N.Y., and Chicago before settling on the farm in the town of Withee which her son, John and family now owns, and with who she continued to make her home since the death of her husband 20 years ago.

She was a member of St. Hedwig’s church and the Rosary Society. She was the mother of 12 children. Surviving are three daughters, Stella (Mrs. Frank Kalka), Helen (Mrs. Steven Morkowski) of Chicago, Cecila (Mrs. Larry Barth) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Three sons, Mike and Adam of Chicago, and John of Thorp, 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and one sister in Buffalo, New York.

Funeral services were held on Saturday morning at St. Hedwig’s Catholic church officiated by Father Francis Piekarski and Father Connie Chilicki with burial in the old parish cemetery.

Pall bearers were: Wallace Dobrzynski, Andrew Dobrzynski, John Wnek, Adam Szerlong, Peter Lukasiewicz and Mike Strzok.

Out of town relatives attending were from Chicago, Milwaukee and Eau Claire.
