Roubal, Ernest W. (3 June 1933 - 4 January 2009) With Flag
Ernest W. Roubal, age 75, formerly of 925 S.25th Street, Manitowoc, and currently a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, died Sunday, January 4, 2009, at Shady Lane.
Ernest was born on June 3, 1933, in Rice Lake, son of the late Frank and Edna (Rice) Roubal.
He married the former Berneice J. Funk on June 11, 1955, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cedar Lake. Ernest served in the U. S. Army and was discharged in 1955. Berneice preceded him in death on November 28, 2008. The couple lived in Manitowoc and later owned a farm on County Line Road LS, which they ran for a number of years. The couple then moved to Thorp where they bought another farm from which they later retired. Ernest was a member of First Lutheran Church and Amvets Post #99. He was a volunteer at Peter’s Pantry and the Salvation Army Store.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: Rick Roubal, rural Manitowoc, Bill (Nancy) Roubal, Jacksonville, NC, and David (Joan) Roubal, Eau Claire; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan (John) Taylor, Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, DeWayne Everson, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Berneice; two sisters-in-law: Phyllis Ewen Buergi and Clarice Everson; and two brothers-in-law: Allen Ewen and Carl Buergi.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at First Lutheran Church Chapel, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Steven Solberg will officiate with entombment of his cremated remains in the Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at the church chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
