Martha Margaret Oelberg, age 95,
of Arcadia, CA (formerly of Thorp), passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013, in
Arcadia, with family and friends by her side.
Marge was born on June 29,
1918, in Thorp, WI to John and Anna Panek. She was raised on the family farm,
received her education at area schools, and graduated from Thorp High School.
She spent her early adult years in Glendale, CA, where she worked at R & H
Motors and taught dance at the Tree Studio. Marge married Henry Oelberg on May
25, 1963, in River Grove, IL, where she lived with Hank and his children, Karin,
Claudia and Chris. While in Illinois, she worked as a secretary for the Elmwood
Park Chamber of Commerce and later at Madigan’s Department Store.
Marge
loved to dance. As a result, Hank and Marge enjoyed many nights dancing at the
local Moose Lodge and traveling together. After retirement in 1978, they moved
to Albuquerque, NM, and later to Arcadia, CA. After Hank’s death in 1984, she
stayed busy working at Henshaw’s Department Store, and spending time with her
friends.
She is survived by three step-children: Karin Bunn of
Plainfield, IL, Claudia Schneider of Madison, WI, and Chris (Penny Nusbaum)
Oelberg of Thorp, WI; six grandchildren: Jason, Clinton, James, Brandt, John,
and Jennifer; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Antoinette (Tosh) Stuesser
of Thorp; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Marge was
preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hank; four brothers; and three
sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 11, 2013, at 1:00
p.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Burial will follow in
