Huntley, Mary (30 May 1814 - 15 January 1897)
Mrs. Mary Huntley was born in Sheffield, England in 1814. In 1836 she was married to William Huntley of Glascow, Scotland and in 1840 they came to American and resided in Buffalo, N.Y. for two years when they moved to Milwaukee in 1846, where they also resided for about two years. In 1848 they moved to Washington County, where Mr. Huntley died leaving his wife with a family of five children, and in rather poor circumstances. There was a small mortgage on the place at the time of Mr. Huntley's death, and the neighbors wishing to show their appreciation for the deceased and his family, and knowing their condition, subscribed enough money to pay off the mortgage, which they donated to the widow. Mrs. Huntley and her family resided until 1869, when they moved to Clark County, where the widow has since resided. She leaves four grown sons and one daughter: Richard, William, John, Thomas Huntley and Mrs. I. A. Sufficool.
Twenty seven grand children and two or three great-grandchildren survive the good old lady. Thus endeth the life of Grandma Huntley a long and patient sufferer.
