Bryan, Rose Mary (12 April 1937 - 22 January 2009)

Rose Bryan, 71, of Neillsville died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.

Rose Mary Ritzert was born April 12, 1937, in Clinton, the daughter of Francis Bernard and Luella Katherine (Ketchum) Ritzert.

She attended school in McHenry and Crystal Lake, IL, and then worked as a factory worker at the Admiral Company in Illinois.

She was united in marriage to Guenther Dolenski Oct. 24, 1957. After Guenther’s death in 1970, Rose moved to Neillsville in 1972. She was united in marriage to Donald G. Bryan Jan. 20, 1973.

After moving to Neillsville, she worked for Auto Test. She also worked as a bartender for Bill and Jan Opelt, the Robin’s Nest, Jeff’s Roadside, The Glass House, The Green Lantern and the Rooster Bar. Rose also worked at Nelson Muffler, the Ho-Chunk Casino and for Tim Kopp making wreaths. All the while, however, Rose was a homemaker, who cared for her husband and children and babysat for all of her grandchildren.

Rose enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, gambling, especially bingo, her flowers, wind chimes and birds. Rose was also secretary/treasurer for the Happytime Trailblazers Snowmobile Club for over 20 years.

She is survived by her husband, Donald G. Bryan; six children, Dawn (Mark) Scheibe of Neillsville and their children, Faith, Felicia, Paul and Ryan, Jackie (Roger) Polzin of Neillsville and their children, Greg and Brian, Theresa Mueller of Granton and her children, Chad and Alicia; Linda (Steven) Weiss of Wild Rose and their children, Samantha, Kodty, Danielle, Nicole and Nickolas, April (Phillip) Struensee of Merrillan and their children, Lukas and Abigail, and Donald L. "Doobie" (Ashley) Bryan of Neillsville and their children, Traysha, Alyssa and Logan; 13 great-grandchildren, Chastiti, Vincent, Cheyanne, John III, Trenton, Tegan, Aubree, Olivia, Mariah, Joseph, Daniel, Dakota and Chase. Rose is also survived by a brother, John (Sue) Ritzert of Hebron, IL; and many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Guenther Dolenski; her parents; sisters, Ann Zellhofer, Lola Meier, Marie Lawrence and June Clem; and brothers, Charles Ritzert, Leroy Ritzert, Glen Ritzert and Francis Jr. "Snuffy" Ritzert.

Funeral services for Rose were held at 11 a.m. Monday Jan. 26, 2009, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Steven Wentz officiated. Interment was in the Dells Dam Cemetery in Neillsville. Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the Gesche Funeral Home.

Honorary Casketbearers were Roger Polzin, Steven Weiss, Phillip Struensee, Mark Scheibe, Ashley Bryan, Samantha McDonald and John Ritzert.

Casketbearers were Greg Polzin, Brian Polzin, Chad Mueller, Paul Ritter, Kodty McDonald and Lukas Opelt.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Rose’s family with funeral arrangements.
