Miller, Annette Elizabeth (Marriage - 11 June 1960)
St/ Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church of Colby, Route 2, was the scene of the marriage Saturday, June 11, of Miss Annette Elizabeth Miller of Colby and Donald G. Weichelt of Stratford. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond E. Miller, Sr., of Colby and Mr. and Mrs. George Weichelt of Stratford.
Rev. Howard A. Timmerman officiated at the 2:00 o’clock ceremony before an altar decorated with bouquets of mixed flowers. Miss Karen Klessig of Colby sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "O Perfect Love." Mrs. Vernon Boss of Curtiss accompanied her at the organ.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a lace and nylon sheer gown over taffeta with a brush train. The empire waistline had a bow detail with a lace bodice and long sleeves tapered to points. The full gathered skirt fell into a train which was lated bustled. Her silk illusion veil fell from a lace hat trimmed with seed pearls and iridescent sequins. Her bouquet consisted of a loose colonial arrangement of pink roses and white carnations mixed with stephanotis and ivy.
Mrs. Marvin Busse of Abbotsford, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and Miss Beverly Weichelt, cousin of the groom, was bridesmaid. Miss Susan Kaye Busse, niece of the bride, served as flower girl. The two bridal attendants wore ballerina length dresses of nylon sheer over taffeta in pink and turquoise. The fitted bodice featured Bertha collars with cummerbund and rosette detail with streamer and full gathered skirts. They wore leafy headpieces of matching color with face veils. They carried colonial arranged bouquets of pink and white carnations and turquoise and white carnations with satin ribbons. The flower girl wore a white nylon dress with a scalloped over-skirt layer of lace and ruffles. She carried a bouquet of miniature pink and white carnations. A corsage of red roses and white carnations accented the black and white dress worn by the mother of the bride.
Marvin Busse of Abbotsford was best man and Darrell Treankler of Stratford was the groomsman. Norman Weichelt of Stratford and Dennis Lautenschlaeger of New Holstein were ushers. Allan Ehrike of Stratford served as ringbearer.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the farm home of the bride. Supper was served to 200 guests in the church parlors. In the evening, a wedding dance was held at the Kolby Park Pavilion.
The bride is a 1960 graduate of Colby High School. Mr. Weichelt is a 1957 graduate of Stratford High School. Following a wedding trip to Alaska, the couple will make their home on the groom’s farm near Stratford.
Guests for the wedding were from Colby, Unity, Stratford, Curtiss, Abbotsford, Dorchester, Collins, Marshfield, Spencer, Merrill, New Holstein, Hartford, Mayville, Granton, Edgar, Hewitt, Iron Ridge, Minneapolis, Minn., and Fort Ord, Calif.
