Sazama, Dorothy (Marriage - 18 June 1960)
Miss Dorothy Sazama, daughter of Mrs. Joseph Sazama, and Dr. Robert Kovatch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kovatch of Owen, were married Saturday, June 18, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wis., Rev. John B. Pinion officiating at the services. White and pink daisies decorated the altar.
The bride was attired in a floor-length gown of silkanza with brush train. stuffed Swiss motifs encircled the modified scoop neckline and accented the waist. An orange blossom clip secured her finger tip veil of silk illusion. Her bouquet consisted of a cascade arrangement of cymbidiums, stephanotis, white daisies with ivy intertwined.
The maid of honor, Miss Virginia Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn., a friend of the bride, wore a dress of pink nylon chiffon over taffeta. The rounded neckline was banded with pink satin. This same satin banding accented the soft gathering of the upper bodice and emphasized the fitted waist. The skirt was softly gathered and elegantly bouffant. Matching headpieces secured the circular veil. Her arm bouquet consisted of white majestic daisies and ivy. The bridesmaids, Miss Grace Sylla of Minneapolis, Minn., a friend of the bride, and Miss Jane Sazama of Chippewa Falls, a cousin of the bride, wore identical dresses and carried identical bouquets. All three also wore white wrist-length gloves.
The flower girl, Susan Leick of Stratford, a niece of the bride, wore a floor-length gown of nylon organdy which was softly gathered at the waist and secured with a large bow. She wore a crown of pink and white daisies and carried a basket of pink and white daisies with petals which she scattered in the aisle.
The groom was attended by his brother, William Kovatch of Owen, as best man, and by Dr. Joseph Kowalksi of Detroit, Mich., a friend, and William Sazama of Boyd, a brother of the bride, as groomsman.
A reception was held at the home of the bride’s mother, and, in the evening, a wedding dance was held at the Kolby Park Pavilion.
The couple left on a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin. The bride attended Colby High School and is a graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Marshfield. She has been employed as a registered nurse at St. Lawrence Hospital, Lansing, Mich. The groom attended Owen High School and Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich. He is in the U.S. Army.
