Alice Gulczinski was born on
February 3, 1919, in Minot, ND, the daughter of Stanley and Julia (Mozinski)
Gulczinski. As a young child, Alice’s family moved to Detroit, MI and later to
Thorp, WI, where she received her education. She was united in marriage to John
Badzinski on July 4, 1936, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. Alice
worked several jobs over the years, in addition to being a full-time farm wife
and mother of five children. John passed away on January 8, 1980. She later
married Leo Dmytro on August 15, 1981. They lived in the City of Thorp and
enjoyed helping out others whenever possible. Leo passed away on April 27, 2009,
and Alice continued to live in her home on School Street until moving to her

In her spare time, Alice enjoyed
baking, sewing, painting and drawing, and square dancing. She was also an active
volunteer at church, nursing homes and hospitals, and area schools. Alice always
had a big “hug” for everyone and her enthusiastic energy was contagious. She was

Catholic Women, was an active member of the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary, and
a former 4-H club leader.
